| My Experience and Key Skills |
| Experience Summary: |
I began my career as a journalist working for regional newspapers in the West Midlands. I later "drifted" into Public Relations and worked on a number of major projects including ( in the 1980's) the co-ordination of the then Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher's tour of the West Midlands in 1987, HRH Prince Charles' tour of midland businesses in 1988 and later HRH Prince Michael of Kent's tour of the Black Country in 1990. In the early 1990's my full service agency was involved in buying a considerable amount of print. This led to me buying a 50% share in a lithographic print company some 15 years ago. I left the P.R. behind and concentrated on print. As the print industry developed with the emphasis on a "one stop shop" culture, I expanded the print business and developed a network of print partners. The idea being that if the job wasnot right for our presses we could make the plates, buy the paper and place the job with a trade printer that was right for the job. Result - we offered a one stop shop, oversaw and maintained the quality and kept the price down. It's worked so far. Last year however, my "journalistic tendancies" surfaced again and I wrote and published "Abdul Salam's Secret Curry Cook Book" an Indian cookbook with Guinness Book of Records holder and award winning Chef, Abdul Salam. It was handy being both a writer and owning a print company! The recipes are designed so that the curries taste exactly as they do in the restaurant. It was done to achieve an ambition. Nothing more. The 200 people or so who have bought a copy swear by it. So if anyone wants to buy a copy be quick I only have 4,800 left out of the 5,000 we printed! |
