Leicester boys go to OzDear Sir/ Madame,
Lutterworth under 16's Rugby club has been invited to tour Sydney Australia, and then go onto Brisbane to play at the Souther skies rugby tournament, this is a Superb chance for us to beat the ozzies again.
Lutterworth under 16's have a remarkable team, 1 player signed for England, 1 for Leicester tigers. 8 who play for midlands, here I am sure you will agree are some of the future top players of English Rugby, they are dedicated and enthusiastic.
As you can appreciate a tour to the other side of the world is not cheap and as the tournament is in July and the boys have to be out there week before to get over the jet lag, we need to raise a substantial amount of monies, we have to date, got all food and accommodation organized along with the ozzies donating the boys a trip up harbor Bridge wow !!
We are now looking for sponsorship for the team kit,the back/front/sleeves/collar/shorts/socks all to have company sponsorship.
We have a number of events lined up to help with fund raising , including the boys bag packing st 2 Asda stores.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope you are able to help these boys on there way to Oz.
I have also contacted a numerous members of the Media including midlands today, BBC Leicester and Sky News for publicity
Southern Skies Events is a non-profit organisation founded in 1998 at Brisbane Boys' College, one of Brisbane's oldest yet most progressive schools. Its raison d'etre is to enhance the educational experience of all those who attend its events.
Southern Skies presented its first event, the Southern Skies Tournament, in 1998. Initially a very small rugby competition, the Tournament has grown to feature school-aged competitions in four winter team sports for boys and girls and regularly attracts over 1500 participants from eight to ten different countries. Following on from this success, in 2003 a sister event, the Southern Skies Challenge, was created for summer team competitions. To date Southern Skies Events has hosted well over 15,000 participants from over a dozen countries, and has become an important feature in the youth sporting calendar.
In 2004 Southern Skies Events entered into a partnership with the Beijing International Sports Exchange Centre to present the China Stars International Friendship Games. The inaugural event was held in Beijing in August 2005 featuring competition in soccer. This partnership expanded in September 2006 with the introduction of girls' hockey in Beijing.
The excellence of the Southern Skies Events' program has received significant recognition. The Australian Sports Awards recognises the cream of the Australian sporting industry each year. Southern Skies Events has been nominated as a finalist in the Sports Tourism category in 2003 and 2004. To be recognised in this manner alongside events like the Rugby World Cup and International Indoor Track Cycling Championships is a prestigious honour.
